Thailand-based Advanced Info Service (AIS) has entered into an eight-year roaming agreement deal with state-run operator TOT. AIS will pay up to THB 14 billion a year to utilise 80 per cent of TOT’s 2100 MHz spectrum for a total bandwidth of 15 MHz. In exchange, AIS will lease its 25,000 mobile towers to TOT for THB 10 billion per year.

The deal will help TOT expand its mobile communication network and increase the number of its subscribers to around 2 million within three years. The eight-year agreement will also improve the speed of non-voice communication services. TOT is also planning to provide mobile phone services to around 1 million low-income users.
