The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has extended its backing to the Sunseap Group’s 10 MW solar power plant project in Cambodia. ADB is planning to provide Sunseap with a debt financing package worth $9.2 million. It includes co-financing from a financial institution and a concessional loan from the Canadian Climate Fund for the Private Sector in Asia. The power project will be implemented on a public-private partnership (PPP) model near Bavet in Cambodia’s Svay Rieng province. Sunseap has entered into a 20-year solar power purchase agreement with Electricité Du Cambodge. Once operational, the plant will be able to meet roughly a quarter of Bavet’s local energy needs. It will also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 5,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent annually.
