A total of 53 local and international companies and consortiums have expressed interest in designing, engineering, financing, constructing, operating and maintaining the 47.5 km elevated ring road in Yangon. The Ministry of Construction (MoC) has announced that it would split the project into multiple sections and tender and implement them individually, in order to speed up the process. In May 2017, the MoC had invited local and foreign investors to submit expressions of interest (EoIs) for the construction of an elevated four-lane ring road on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis in Yangon. The road will connect downtown Yangon, Yangon port, the Yangon International Airport, the Mingalardon Industrial Park and the Yangon-Mandalay highway.
